Rutile

Is the most common natural form of TiO2. Rutile has among the highest refractive indices of any known mineral and also exhibits high dispersion. The main uses for Rutile are the manufacture of refractory ceramic, as a pigment, and for the production of titanium metal. Rutile is also widely used as an important welding electrode covering ingredient. However, Titanium dioxide pigment is the single greatest use of titanium worldwide.
